The Republican Army is violently attacking Mr. de Valera, owing to his refusal to intervene in connection with the sentence passed on two members of the Republican Army for attempting to damage premises during the enforce- < ment of the anti-British beer boycott, says the Dublin correspondent of th® X 5 Evening News. _ v . The accused refused to recognise the Court, whereupon Judge Davitt, son of ’ ■ the famous Michael Davitt, the Feinian leader, invoked the Cosgrave Coercion Act and ordered a month’s imprison- - ment for contempt of Court. The Republican Army organised a protest meeting at which speakers declared ■ that they had no further use for Mr. de ■ Valera and urged the use of force to f,:establish a republic. i Judge Davitt is heavily guarded.
