As developments confirmed the Government’s mastery of the revolutionary plot Argentina’s political atmosphere today’ became the clearest it has been since constitutionalism was restored in February, with the definite dispelling of the threat which has been looming in the background throughout the present administration. A state of siege was authorised on Saturday, and the Government will probably declare it effective throughout the provinces of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Corrlentes and Larioja. This condition differs from martial law in that the civil courts continue to function. Extra powers will ba invoked, however, to stamp out the subversion. Quiet prevails throughout the country.
