STRATFORD ITEMS.
Miss Beryl Masters has returned-from Wanganui for the holidays, Miss Josephine' Steele, Auckand, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Steele, Stratford. Mr. and Mrs. W. Ritchie, who. have been the . guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. Siddells, have returned to Hastings. Mrs. Ronald Macßae, Bird Road, is spending a Holiday at Golden Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Yarndley are spending a holiday at Te Awamutu. Miss J. Beale arid Miss Bartlett, of the staff of S. Mary’s School, have motored ,to. Auckland for the Christmas holidays. Miss Mary Harvey, who has been the guest ,of Miss Joan Coleman, has returned to Waverley.,
Mrs. R. V. Kay, who is shortly leaving for Wellington, was the guest at a farewell afternoon party given at Airs. E. Young’s residence. Mrs. Yqung and Mrs. N. H. Moss were joint hostesses. The guest of honour was presented with a bouquet. The costume chosen by Mrs. Kay was a smartly cut flecked blue ensemble with modish hat to tone. Mrs. Young op behalf of Mrs. Kay’s many friends presented' her with a leather hand-bag. Those present included Mesdames L. Jardine, L. J. Furrie, H. Good, Hall,'Jeffries, W. H. H. Young, S. Pitt, G Hall, A. Coleman, Thorpe, J. Allen, Spence, D. Malone, Dr. Doris Gordon, Bishop, Rutherfurd, Beale, Misses Wilson and M. Porrit.
On Saturday afternoon the breakingup of the Tui Macßae school of dancing took place. It has been usual at the end of each year for Miss Macßae to present a medal to the most improved pupil, but as all the children had progressed so well it was hard to distinguish so an ice cream party was held instead. The reading club on Friday night held its fortnightly meeting a 4 the residence of Mrs. D. Morris. “Dear Brutus” was read, those reading being Mesdames R. Curtis, G. Hall, Parsloe, Rutherfurd, Urwin and Richards and Misses M. Skoglund, Wilson, M. Malone and North.
