WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ACTIVITIES. INGLEWOOD BRANCH. The Inglewood branch of the Women’s Division held their final meeting for 1932 in the parish hall on Wednesday after-. noon last, .when Mrs., Marsh presided, those present being Mesdames Allen, Bennet, Grofski, Frederickson, Hopson, Dodunski, Nicholls, Winter, Keegan, Dombroski, Chard, Gee, Wright, Duncan, Guilford, Misses Mounsey, Chard. Reardon and Tapping. A motion of sympathy with Mr. W. F. Olson and family in their recent bereavement was passed, while it was resolved that a letter, be sent to the Egmont Village branch of the Women’s Division regretting the loss of their late president. Correspondence from headquarters regarding members of Taranaki branches availing themselves of lectures and denicastrations from .Miss Violet McMillan, of Massey Agricultural College, was favourably received. The members were then made con- ; versant with the full Christmas tree arrangements as it. had now developed into one big scheme for Inglewood' and district children from infants to 12 years, under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce, the Women’s Division, the Women’s Institute and the Mothers’ Union/ It is. estimated there will be between 700 and 800 children to provide gifts for. The roll call, “My Ideal Holiday,” disclosed some wonderfully fanciful resorts and ideas of having a good time. Afternoon tea concluded an enjoyable time, the hostesses being Mesdames Bennet and Guilford., INGLEWOOD JUNIOR.BRANCH. The. Inglewood junior branch of the Women’s Division held their' usual meeting in the Parish hall on Saturday afternoon, when Miss Maida Comey presided. Those present included Misses Hetty McLaggan, June Wright, Phyllis and Jean Tebbutt, Joan and Sybil Bennet, Grace and Sylvia Walsh, Muriel Grofski, Mildred and Cecelia Fabish, Violet Dryden, Coral Hook, - Gwen and Fanny Chard, Mollie. Dombroski. Mrs. E. Henderson kindly consented to judge the' “sausage roll” competition, and Maida Comey was awarded first prize and Gwen Chard second place for. the senior class, while for the junior class Joan and Sybil Bennet were alot-.t ted first and second places respectively. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Henderson for her interest in the girls’ competition. A number of home-made animal toys having come to hand, Gwen Chard has offered to deliver them to the matron of the New Plymouth hospital for distribution among the children of the Tabor Ward. ft . . | Appreciated items were provided towards the afternoon’s amusement. Misses Maida Comey, Grace Walsh, and Gwen Chard contributed songs while Hetty McLaggan and Sylvia Walsh gave a good exhibition of Highland dancing. An amusing competition caused much ment, and was. subsequently won by Mildred Fabish. A jolly, afternoon was concluded with a dainty afternoon tea dispensed by Hetty McLaggan and Grace Walsh.
