OKATO DISTRICT NEWS

RIFLE SHOOTING SCORES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The second round for the Jno. Putt Cup was fired on the Okato rifle range on Saturday under unpleasant conditions. Occasional cold showers and a strong, chopping wind did not, however, prevent two possibles, C. J. Benton making the lot at 300 yards, while Benton senr. repeated the previous Saturday’s performance at 500 yards.

The Okato Bowling Club’s card evening was fairly well attended on - Saturday. Prizes were won by Mrs. Baird and Miss Cole, Mr. E. Julian and Mr. Baird. A consolation prize was won by Mrs. W. Corbett. The winner of the Bowling Club’s trophy was Mr. K. Crosby. - . The cold,> showery weather has caused a distinct decline in the milk supply. Many farmers were also in the unfortunate position of having hay crops down, and an improvement in weather conditions was urgently wanted. As far as gr;ass ensilage is concerned, the majority of this is in the stack, the favourable spring causing the grass to mature some three weeks earlier this year.

The scores were:— a 300 500 600 yds yds yds Hp. Tl. Rflmn. C. J. Benton 35 30 29 4 98 Rflmn. C. B. Benton 32 33 30 i 95J Rflmn. Ron Benton 30 32 29 2f 93| Pres. S.
