MOTOR-CARS STRANDED
HIGHWAY BLOCKED BY SLIP. TRAMPERS’ \ PREDICAMENT. Four motor-cans, owned by Wellington residents, are at present stranded aS Otaki Forks, about 50 miles from Wellington. While the cars were parked along the road on Sunday a slip came down, blocking the highway, and the cars are still out in the open, wherd they must remain until the fall is cleared. Their occupants returned to town by motor -lorry. Twenty-five members of the Tararua Tramping Club went to the Otaki Forks on Saturday afternoon, travelling in six motor-cars. The cars were left parked on the Otaki Gorge and the party set off for Field Hut. When the main party returned to the cars on Sunday evening, they found that a heavy slip had come down, com® pletely blocking the road about a hua» dred yards on the city side of the cars, Two cars which had left before the slip fell, were the only ones to reach the city. The stranded tampers had to 'hire a motor-lorry to reach Wellington and eventually; ftrrbicd •aihU. -*-■
