GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS.

An excellent concert was broadcast from 2YB New Plymouth on Wednesday by a number of pupils of the Tikorangi school. Messrs. J. Garner, I. Vickery, W. Metcalf and Vickery senr. motored the children to town. < The warm spring rains have brought on the growth wonderfully in the district and ensilage-making has started on various farms. Shearing is also in full swing. Numerous farmers in the district are ploughing and a large acreage of turf has this year come under the plough. The schoolboys’ cricket team played a Westown team at Waitara on Friday. Tikorangi won by a run. ; . Two car-loads of members of the Women’s Institute went to Ngaere on Friday to be present at the half-year-ly council meeting of the Taranaki Federation of Women’s Institutes. Mrs. A. Whitehead (vice-president of the Tikorangi’ Institute and a member of the executive committee) made the three-minute speech on of Tikorangi and Mrs? R. Morey (president of the Tikorangi Institute) made a short speech on handicrafts. Mr. and Mrs. 0, Foreman motored to Auckland at the end of last , week to attend the spring race meeting. Miss J. Davidson, of the New Plymouth hospital nursing staff, is visiting her home in the district. Mr. M.
