An option to purchase the mining area held by Messrs. Bell and Kilgour, who made a lucky gold strike at Cromwell Flat, is etated to have been secured by a London syndicate which is endeavouring to secure as many other areas as possible. A meeting of those who hold areas was held at Cromwell, about 50 attending. Mr. Roche, the Dunedin representative of the syndicate, made an offer for the options and the matter was adjourned for the parties to consult.
