FINE SHOOTING WITNESSED VISITORS FROM. OTHER CLUBS. Some very fine shooting was witnessed at the first ehoot of the season of the Waverley Clay Bird Club. Visitors from Waitara, Eltham, Patea, Hawera and Wanganui attended. Tea was supplied by wives of the committee, Mesdames Heginbotham, Coster, Haycock and Dalrymple. Quarterman took first prize and in a shoot-off Lombard and Heginbotham divided the second. First miss out: Knuckey (14) 11, Cunningham (11) 11, Quarterman (24) 11. The three divided. Double rise, five Sets: R. Davies (12) 8, Cunningham (111) 7, L. Bradley (9) 6, Lombard (12) 6, Knuckey (12) 8, W. O’Brien (13) 10, Bremer ('l3) 7. O’Brien was first and Davies and Knuckey second.

PATEA HOSPITAL BOARD. HALF-YEARLY POSITION GOOD. The net position of the Patea Hospital Board at the end of the half year gave the Department of Health satisfaction, Dr. Watt stated in a letter received by the board yesterday. The medical superintendent, Dr. W. F. Simmons, reported that there were 24 patients in hospital at the beginning of the month, I'l males and 13 females. At the end of the month there were 20, nine males and 11 females.

Appreciation was expressed of the work done by Mr. L. F. Row, county engineer, in laying down the tennis court, and members remarked that the men employed had done good work. A bequest of £5O from the Hunter Shaw estate and £5O« from the board provided the major portion of the cost. Mr. C. R. Honeyfield presided and also present were: Messrs. W. H. Watkins, C. E. Johnston, W. Back, A. T. Christensen, J. Lupton, R. J. Watt, H. Middleton and R- G. Scown.
