EXPENDITURE REDUCED.

SAVING OF OVER £1,500,000.

An indication of the extent to which expenditure has been reduced by Go'v - eminent departments is afforded by the annual report of the Stores Control Board, which shows that the total amount paid for stores during ended March 31, 1932, was £2,751,214, a reduction of £1,529,590, or o 5 per cent., on the expenditure in the previous year. The expenditure on behalf of the departments during the past two years

Purchases during the previous years were as follows: 1924, £4,080,000; 1925, £4,416,833; 1926, £4,690,569; 1927, £3,877,275; 1928, £3,947,117; 1929, £4,199,822; 1930, £4,345,030.
