FATALITY AT CROSSING

CAPSIZE OF MOTOR-TRUCK. GIRL DIES FROM INJURIES, I A motor accident resulting in th# death of Miss Greta Salmon, aged 19 years, of Rotorua, occurred at a railway crossing about a mile south of Matamata shortly after 9 o’clock cm Tuesday evening. Miss Salmon was one of a party of seven, which was proceeding in a light motor-truck from Rotorua to Te Arolia to attend a dance.. Th* truck, which was driven by Mr. Victor Russell Lloyd, of Rotorua, capsized at the crossing, which connects roads running parallel on cither side of the railway line. I Miss Salmon, who was sitting on the I outside of the front seat, was crushed. ' She was immediately taken to a private hospital, which is only a Short distance away, but expired shortly after midnight. The rest of the party escaped injury. The girl’s mother resides in Auckland and her father, Mr. VVilham Herbert Salmon, is a railway surfaceman stationed at Matata. . • i An inquest was opened before Mr. A. IJ.
