DENTAL,CLINIC CONTROL. At the dental clinic committee meeting there were present Messrs. L. Brown ai& J. Reeve (Norfolk Roa'd), Herbert and Wood (Durham Road), J. Klenner (Kaimata), A. R. Marsh and W. Guilford (Esmont Village), V. Mischewski and S. G- Terrett (Derby Road), W. A. Stephens (Inglewood Convent), E. J. Clough (Waiongona), C. A. McKinney (chairman), H. Patterson (Inglewood), and Miss Whittington, the dental nurse. The secretary reported that the new steriliser had been made and installed and it was working very satisfactorily. A letter was received from the caretaker asking for an .increase in salary. The committee felt that under the circumstances it was impossible to accede to the request. The dental nurse answered several questions by the members in regard to the running of the clinic. Mr. Reeve moved a vote of thanks to the nurse for attending and in thanking her for the interest she was taking in her work stated that his committee was completely satisfied with her work. Three new schools, Inglewood Convent, Waiongona and Derby Road, had joined the clinic and pupils from those schools were receiving treatment. Discussion pupils who missed an appointment for treatment, during a term took place. It was pointed put that these pupils under the regulations became barred from treatment. Under the present economic conditions where some parents are unable to meet, their fees ■fhe committee thought this was a hardship. The secretary was instructed to write to the Director of Dental Hyo-ienc pointing out this hardship and asking that several pupils be reinstated. Mr.° A. Grant is to be asked to accept the position of auditor. The secretary reported that , a telephone was essential at the clinic or at the school for the use of the nurse in makinrr appointment with the country schools’, and it was decided that if the Inglewo'-cl School' Committee was prepared to instal. the telephone in the school the clinic committee would be prepared to pay one-third of the cost of rental. GOLF ROSE BOWL MATCHES. The Inglewood men’s golf competition for the rose bowl is now being played. Following are the results of the first round. (There are still two matches to be played):— H. Martin defeated Dr. Faris 3 up and 2. S. Judd defeated J. Morton. C. Belcher defeated D. Gow 6 up and 5. H. Morton defeated C. O’Carroll 3 up and 2. I. Grant defeated S- Lovell 4 up and 2. In the second round Winter defeated Grant 1 up. , A married ladies’ v. single ladies match was played on Monday. The single ladies won three matches and lost two. Following are the‘Scores: — Miss Morton defeated Mrs. Grant and Mrs. Winter 1 up. Miss Wilson and Miss Mary Morton defeated Mrs. Partridge and. Mrs. Gow 4 up and 3. Miss Johnston and Miss Marshall lost to Mrs. O’Carroll and Mrs. Adlam 3 up and 2. Miss McAllum and Miss Corney defeated Mrs. Birch-Johnston and Mrs. Faris 1 up. Mrs. Lovell (playing as single lady) lost to Mrs. Torrens. l z down. Mr. W. J- Somerton, president of the Inglewood Bowling Club, and his wife gave a ver v enjoyable euchre party on Monday in an endeavour to augment the funds of the club. The prizes were won by Mrs. E. A. Lovell 1, Miss Baker 2; Mr. Maetzig .1, Mr. T, Drake and Mr. Miles tied for second place and in the cut Mr. T. Drake won. Fourteen tables were occupied. After the euchre supper was served. Mr. W. J. Smith, vice-president of the club, • thanked -Mr. and Mrs. Somerton for their effort to help the club. He also thanked the prize donors and. Mr, T. Lindsay, who- controlled the euchre. A euchre party under the auspices of the Inglewood branch of the Labour Party was held on Monday night. Ten tables were occupied. The prizes were won bv Mrs. Judson 1, Mrs. Abbott 2, Mr. J. Klenner consolation; Mrs. Arnold (playing as man) 1, Mr. H. Baldwin 2, Mr. J. "Scott consolation. Fireman' W. Devereux on Monday completed 25 years’ servie- in fire brigades, which entitles him to the association’s gold star. The star will be presented at a function in the near future. For the last 12 years Mr. Devereux has been a member of the Inglewood brigade. He also served seven years- with the Lower Hutt brigade, two years at Marton, and four years at Patea.
