FAREWELL TO MR. CROFSKY. (From Our Own Correspondent;) A smoke concert in the Leppertqn hall, arranged by the manager, staff , and directors of the dairy factory gave residents the opportunity of saying farewell to .Mr. Joe Crofsky. “Joe” has been associated with the. factory for the last seven years, three years of which he had held the position of second assistant cheese maker. He has been appointed to the position of first assist- • ant at the Waipapa factory (North Taranaki). Mr. E. Hellier presided and community singing was lead by Mr. H. E. Blyde. The proceedings opened with the toast of the King, which was followed by that of the Lepperton dairy company. This was proposed by Mr. F. T. Crow and responded to by Mr. P. A. Openshaw, chairman of the company. The main toast of the evening, that of “Our Guest,” was proposed by Mr. Hellier, who referred to the high esteem in which Mr. Crofsky was held by the suppliers and the staff of the factory, and how sorry all were to know that they were to lose the services of such an able, courteous and willing assistant. But all of course were pleased to hear of his well deserved promotion. Mr. Hellier then asked Mr. Crofsky to accept from the directors, staff and suppliers a wristlet watch, suitable engraved. Mr. Crofsky expressed his appreciation of the gitf and the things that had been said of him. He was extremely sorry to leave, he said, and commented on the harmony that had always existed at Lepperton. “The staff” was proposed by Mr. H. E. Blyde, who pointed out how the factory seemed to be the stepping stone to promotion for a number of the staff and how successful they had been. Mr. L. Jones, * Who was formerly the manager at Lepperton, had been appointed a grader at Patea. Mr. Klenner was now manager at Lowgarth. Mr. Roy Smith was now manager at Kaimiro. Mr. A. G. Drake (manager) in reply commented, on the undoubted, team work displayed by the staff and how dependent upon this was the successful running of the factory. The suppliers' was proposed by Mr.. E. Old,' who enlarged upon the necessity of suppliers sending the best possible milk or cream as without this it was impossible for the manager to make the best possible butter or 1 cheese. Mr. O. B. Depper in reply agreed with the proposer in his idea of sending only the best of raw materials and stated that no suppliers should take offence at any time if the manager queried, the quality of the raw material. Songs and recitations were given by Mesrs. A. J. Hancock. A. Roberts and F. T. Crow. Mr. Mervyn Sampson was at the piano, and Mr. H. E. Blyde as leader made the success of the . community singing a foregone conclusion. WOMEN’S DIVISION MEETING. The Lepperton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union on Tuesday held its monthly meeting. Mrs. H. E. Blyde presided over a good attendance. Mrs. W. J. Polson, who represented the Lepperton 'branch at the annual conference at Wellington, was present to give a report of the proceedings.
