RECOGNITION OF BRAVERY
AWARDS FOR THREE RESCUERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Three awards for bravery were made at a meeting of the court of directors of the Royal Humane Society to-day. William Harold Nairn, Hawke’s Bay,' was awarded a certificate for rescuing two girls from drowning at Porangahau. Letters of commendation are to be sent to Oscar Ramstead, waterside worker, Wellington, who on April 20 rescued a man from drowning after he had fallen overboard from the sttamer Komata, and to Arthur Hincheo, butcher, Onehunga, whc • rescued from drowning a child who had fallen into a clay pit filled with, water, Hinchco dived repeatedly until he located the child, who was stuck in heavy mud at the bottom of the pit.
