STRUCK BY ON-COMING CAR
PEDESTRIAN’S CLAIM FOR INJURY. VERDICT FOR £4OO DAMAGES. ... By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. An accident at Kilbirnie on the evening of May 19 last, in which • Charles Richard Ingram, a retired public servant of Rongolai, was struck by a motor-car and injured, had its sequel in a claim for £BOO damages against Robert George Thompson, salesman, Miramar. The case was concluded before Mr. Justice MacGregor anti a jury this evening, and a vprdict was returned in favour of Ingram, awarding £4OO damages. The car was being driven by the son of Thompson, who was»sitting alongside him. The son gained his driver’s license next day. Evidence was given indicating that plaintiff walked across the street and was struck by the oncoming .car. Thompson in evidence said he took Ingram homo and offered to get a doctor, hut Ingram declined, saying it was his own fault. This was denied by Ingram’s wife.
