Percival, who rode last Melbourne Cup winner. The reasons are not stated, but licenses have been refused W. Brady, T. Bastian, R. A. Evans,’W. J. Howson, T. Lewis, H. Moi-ris, M. Percival, W. Scanlon, J, S. Scarlett, P. Tehan and R. Wilson. The’ permit of an apprentice, P. Egan, was also withdrawn. Rumours of something of the sort coming have been current since the club refused licenses to six leading bookmakers at Flemington, but the announcement was delayed until the racing year ended.
