LODGE CONCERT AND DANCE
OPEN NIGHT HELD BY R.A0.8. Under the auspices of Ye Egmont Lodge of the R.A.0.8. a successful concert and dance was held in the Foresters’ Hall, New Plymouth, on Saturday evening. Properties belonging to the lodge were used to make a stage setting representing a drawing room, which was cunningly lighted to throw a warming glow not only over the scene itself but also out into the body of the hall. • " Organised by Mr. Frank Cornwall and Madame Veta Cornwall, the following concert programme was enthusiastically received: Violin solo, Mr. F. Cornwall; song, Mr. J. Murray; Mr. Benson; song, Madame Veta Cornwall; ventriloquial item, Mr. Ferry; soprano solo,-Miss B. Turnbull; humorous recitation, Mrs. F. Kircher; songs, Mr. Ron Gilbert; humorous recitation, Mr. Murch; story without words, Mrs. Kircher, Miss J. Maine, Mr. J. Quirke; recitation, Miss J. Maine; character sketch, “The Rev. and Mrs. Septimus Bloggett,” Madame Cornwall and Mr. Quirk. After supper the floor was cleared for dancing, for which Messrs. J. MacDonell and A- Baily were masters of ceremonies. Moverley’s orchestra provided the music. The general supervision of the evening was undertaken capably by Mr. L. Garvey, chairman of the general purposes committee, with whom was associated Messrs. A. Baily, R. Mascall, L. Autridge, H. Hooker, J. MacDonell, •WBaillie (secretary). The supper committee comprised Messrs. J-. MacDonell (chairman), J. Utiger, A. • Millman, A. Brown, A. Baily, H. Hooker and T. O’Connor. t.
