The potato market it} a little steadier though values are very little altered. The Wingatui on Wednesday, on account of the later sailing, took a bigger consignment from 1 Lyttelton than the trade expected. Altogether from Tiniaru and Lyttelton the Wingatui took 8300 sacks, as against an’ anticipated cargo of about 4500 sacks. The larger shipment caused a slackening of inquiry. Prompts were sold for the Wingatui at £6 15s, but to-day the figure is £6 10s with Junes at £6 12s 6d, Julys at £7 and July-Septembers at £7 10s. Values to farmers are £5 10s for June delivery and £6 for July, no price being quoted for July-September. The next boat advertised is the Waipiata on June 22. The sky-high price of onions has not held. There is no f.o.b. sacks in quotation at the moment, but the nominal quotation on trucks is £l3 10s a ton. Fowl wheat is steady at 4s 9d f.o.b. for prompt. Oats are neglected. Southern quotations are 3s 7d f.o.b. sacks in for A Gartons and 3s 3d for B’s. Seed prices are unaltered. MAHAKIPAWA GOLD PRODUCTION. Christchurch, Last Night. Consols went over par on the Stock Exchange to-day for the first time since this loan was issued, the quotation being £lOO Is 3d. There is £341,767,000 of this stock in issue. It was first issued at the end of 1926 at £75 per eent. and since then has been added to by conversion offers to the Treasury and the main bondholders. Late in September the loan changed hands at £77 10s per cent, and the market appreciation in the past nine months has amounted to no less than £76,800,000. EGGS AND POULTRY. PRICES AT NEW PLYMOUTH. The range of prices for eggs at New Plymouth during the week was: First grade hen eggs, Is lOd to 2s 3d; mixed. Is 91d to Is lid. Terekihi: Whole 6cl per lb; trimmed, lOd; eight pieces Is. Smoked: Schnapper, lOd per lb; terekihi, Is 3d per lb; blue cod. Is 3d per lb. STUD JERSEY STOCK. SALE AT PALMERSTON NORTH. POOR PRICES REALISED. Palmerston N., June 16. The annual winter Jersey show and sale was held at the showgrounds at Palmerston North this morning, and attracted 47 entries. These comprised 20 stud Jersey cows and in-calf heifers, 11 slud yearling heifers and l(i stud bulls. The entries came forward in good condition, but tile prices were poor, and the bidding slow. Of the 47 head offered, only 24 head was sold, the remaining pens being passed in. The top price of 37 guineas was paid by Mrs. Moeen, of Raetihi, for a yearling bull, offered by Mrs. A. Banks and Son, of Feilding. Mr. H. R. Masters, of Sanson, paid 30 guineas for a yearling heifer from the same bi- eders, and Mr. M. A. McLeod, of Taonui, paid 29 guineas for a yearling bull bred by Mr. H. J. Lancaster, of Glen Orona. The lowest price received was 5 guineas.
