STEAMER FAST ON ROCKS
FERNDALE CALLS FOR HELP.
ALL ABOARD REPORTED SAFE.

The Aberdeen liner Ferndale sent an SOS indicating her position near Dallys Rock, 49 miles cast of Algiers, states a Gibraltar message. A later message from Algiers says the oil tanker British Sovereign picked up the SOS and raced to thq assistance. It found the Ferndale fast on the rock. Everyone on board is safe. A Gibraltar message says the salvage steamers Geir and Freja, are going from Gibraltar and Marseilles respectively to the assistance of the Ferndale.
The Ferndale, a vessel of 9670 tons, twice visited Now Plymouth in 1930.
