PERSONAL AND GENERAL.

A large number took part in the T.umahu Hall on Monday night in the third of a series of euchre and dance parties. Mrs. A. Deacon won the ladies prize with Miss E. (Jil.hooly second, and Mr. W. B. Smith won the men’s prize with Mr. S. Campe second. An enjoyable dance was held afterwards, Miss Gilhooly supplying the music.. Mr. V\. Raven was master of ceremonies. At the Tumahu School Committee meeting it was decided to hold the annual school ball in July. The teacher reported a roll of 26 with an average attendance for the term of 23.9. Several Tumahu axemen attended the Rahotu sports on Wednesday, Mr. W. Uden winning the boys’ chop. Mr. ,W. Smith jun. was also successful, winning the local 12-inch chop. The present mild weather is greatly benefiting local farmers, who are mostly experiencing a shortage of feed due to the scant autumn growth this year. Mrs. T. Raven is visiting her daughter, Mrs. D. Bradbury, Walton. Mrs. G. Cooper, Hawera, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. G. B. Jones. Miss F. Watkins hr 3 returned to Christchurch.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Magon are visiting relatives in the district.

Mrs. D. Fox will leave shortly for a holiday in the north. Airs. G. Goodwin is spending a holiday at Whangarei, where she is the guest of her sister, Mrs. H. Symmons.
