DRAW FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. The qualifying rounds for the senior and junior championships of th> Eltham Golf Club will be played during the week-end. ELTHAM CROQUET CLUB.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. At the annual meeting of the Eltham Croquet Club the election of officers resulted: President, Mrs. Peacock; vicepresidents, Lady Carncross and Mrs. McKay; secretary, Mrs. Pepperell; general committee, Mesdames Thomas, Summers, Gubb, Gower and Cooper; match committee, Mesdames Fountaine, Manley, McKay, Pennington; tea committee, Miss Thomas, Mrs. Arthur, Mrs. Townsend. .

The report stated that the playing members numbered 33 and the financial honorary members 21. Friendly interclub matches were played against Avon, Kaponga, Stratford, Hawera, Hawera Park and Opunake. The club trophies were keenly contested. The Arthur button for “A” players was won by Mrs. Gubb; the Arthur ‘‘B” button was won by Mrs. Cooper. Mrs. Gubb donated two runner-up prizes which were won ‘by Mrs. Peacock and Miss Thomas. The Isaacson Cup was won by Miss Thomas. Mrs. Goldsmith’s trophy was won by Mrs. Peacock. The committee had much pleasure in reporting the success of the Campbell Cup team in bringing ■home the cup. The McL’Dowie Cup team was not so successful.

By tournament, euchre parties and raffles the club raised £23 18s 6d. The shelter-sheds which were erected during the year had proved a great benefit to players. GENERAL ITEMS. At a meeting of the Eltham Scout Committee the scoutmaster (Mr. Blackman) reported that the parades had been held regularly during the month), with an average attendance of sixteen. The school holidays have had an adverse effect on the attendance. The following badges were passed during the month: Seven dairyman, two pathfinder, one signaller, four athlete, and one second class. N. Courtney, C. Carter and G. Goldsmith were invested as Scouts.

COMPLIMENTARY SMOKE CONCERT

Mr. Arthur Collins leaves next Tuesday for Wellington, where the All Blacks will assemble to play a Wellington representative fifteen before embarking for Sydney. The committee of the Stratford Football Club on Wednesday decided to entertain Mr. Collins at a smoke concert to be held in the Town Hall on Monday. Occasion will be taken to make him a presentation to commemorate the honour of attaining All Black status. ELTHAM THEATRE. “LOCKED DOOR” DRAMA. A dynamic all-talking mysterydrama, based on Channing Pollock’s famous stage hit, describes the “Locked Door,” showing at the Eltham Theatre to-night. The story concerns the experiences of a young woman caught in the swirl of a gripping adventure while attempting to save the honour of one she loved. The leading parts are well portrayed by Barbara Stanwyck and Rod La Rocque, who are ably supported by Betty Bronson, William Boyd and Zasu Pitts. PERSONAL ITEMS. Messrs. G. Aagaard (Stratford), D Tempero (Midhirst) and R. A. Macßae (Bird Road) left by car yesterday to spend a holiday in Wellington and the Nelson district. Mr. L.
