HOCKEY CLUB FAREWELL SOCIAL.

A farewell social was tendered Mr. Charlie Walker by the Mangatoki Hockey Club on Monday at the home oi Mr. and Mrs. S. Morgan. About 40 members and tflieir friends assembled n withstanding the very rough night. Mr. •Walker is transferring to Horotiu, H ilton, with his employer, Mr. E. After supper Mr. Parker, on behalf of the hockey club, expressed regret at the loss of such a promising player and on. who played to 8W« “gVd gentlemanly manner. TJie g«est was greeted with cheers and musical honours. Opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. E. Goodacre and regret was expressed at their departure from the district. Mr. Goodacre responded. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan were heartily thanked for the use of“ their home for the social and the donation of prizes. Mr. Morgan, in replying, expressed ap-

preciation of the assistance given by Mr. Parker in teaching the boys physically for hockey and his interest in the club’s activities. ... GENERAL ITEMS.
