BARQUE'S LONG VOYAGE

CAPE HORN AT ITS WORST.

London, June L

The dreaded Cape Horn showed its worst face to the Finnish barque Herzogin Cecilie on the voyage home from Australia. When rounding the Horn the barque ran into a terrific gale, and, although she made 15 knots and heavy seas swept her decks, no damage was done beyond a few sails being blown to pieces. Head winds encountered earlier had delayed the passage to 35 days from Port Augusta, where the barque took on a cargo of wheat. For five days the vessel was becalmed in the English Channel. The passage occupied 106 days, compared with 92 days last year.
