RELIABILITY TRIAL
AUCKLAND TO NEW PLYMOUTH.
Seven riders took part in the annual reliability trial organised by the Auckland Sports Motor-Cycle Club, says the New Zealand Herald. The course was from Auckland to New Plymouth and back, the trial being held during the week-end. . ■ The riders left Auckland at eight o’clock on Friday morning and five reached New Plymouth the same evening. Easy-starting tests were held on Saturday morning, the riders later commencing the return trip. One of the competitors, E. Bowden, had his machine damaged when he was charged by a herd of steers on Mount Messenger, and so abandoned the course, ailiving in Auckland well ahead of the others. The first riders to finish were G. Howlett (2| h.p. Sun) and G. Sutherland <5-0 hn Indian), who arrived at the foot of Parnell Rise at 6.30 on Saturday evenin'3' Neither lost marks for any fault in°’his machine. The results will not be available until • details of times between the various towns have been worked out and tabulated.
