STRATFORD RETAINS TAPLIN CUP. MATCHES WITH- HAWERA TEAMS. 1 The Taplin Cup team of the Stratford Ladies’ Golf Club yesterday sucaassfully defended the trophy against a challenge from the Hawera ladies by winning four games to two. lhe match was played on the Stratford coui&e fine weather, an enjoyable afternoon being spent on the links. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea afteiwards. Details, Stratford names first, are:— Mrs. Green lost to Mrs. Thomson. Mrs. Seyb beat Mrs. Rota. _ Miss J. gangster beat Mrs. Dickie. Mrs. Ryan beat Mrs. Whitehead. Miss North lost to Mrs. Baigent. Miss Knewstubb beat Mrs. I’earon.

In conjunction with the cup match a friendly match was played between H.twera. and Stratford. Stratford players are named first in the following details: Mrs. Boon beat Mrs. Dalgetty, Mrs. Fryday beat Mrs. Ward, Mrs. C. Williams beat Miss Richardson, Mrs. W. Williams beat Mrs. McAperin. While these two matches were being played at Stratford another team of Stratford ladies visited Hawera, where a foursomes match was played, Hawera winning one up.
