By Telegraph.—- Pre? B Association. Auckland, Last Night.

. The Australian 01 y, ra g%? p a^ S g under the management of Mr. J. S. .arrived by the Mariposa on its way to Los Am-eles. It consists of 11 athlete# and wiU be joined by Pearce, the scullimr champion, who is in Canada. The kfstraliaJs expect to be the first team to arrive and the last to leave. Five swimmers of the team practised in the tepid baths during their brief stay at Auckland. They did only light work, but this was enough to give proof of their speed and stamina to official# and members of the Auckland swimming clubs who watched them with the keenest interest. Only one of the party had been in Auckland before. This was Noel Ryan, quarter-roile Australian champion, who competed here in the course of a Dominion tour two years ago. Most interest was shown in Andrew Charlton. The tepid baths impressed the visitors. “If Sydney had the good fortune to possess tepid baths,” said Mr?. W. Chambers, chaperone pf the team, “New South Wales would certainly lead the world in swimming. Under existing'circumstances swimmers have to’ cease activities in April, and until the return of warmer weather.they have no opportunity to practise.”
