CLAIMS OF LOCAL MILLS. HIGH QUALITY Oh' PRODUCT. The subject of football jerseys was discussed by. the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association this week. The secretary, Mr. G. W. Reid, said a circular had been sent to 106 sports bodies in Otago drawing attention to the fact that thousands of foreignmade jerseys were being imported to New Zealand, a great many of them coming from Japan. Because they were cheap, they a wide sale. Two mills in New Zealand were importing English yarn and were making a very high quality cotton jersey. He thought players should remember that the more attention they paid to New Zealand-made goods, the better it was for the Dominion.
Mr. R. Dunean said no doubt the position was influenced by ths question of price. Mr. Reid replied that New Zealand jerseys were made from three-ply yarn and were treated with a, safe and guaranteed dye, whereas the imported jerseys were made from one-ply yarn and held poor dye. '
