INGLEWOOD NEWS
The monthly meeting of the Inglewood Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday afternoon, when Miss Trimble presided over a fair attendance. Mrs. Woods and Miss Trimble were appointed to attend the federation meeting to be held at Inglewood in May. It was decided to postpone the affiliation of the institute with the National Council of Women until Miss Elsie Andrews had been asked to give a talk on the subject. Miss Trimble then introduced the Rev. E. S. Emmitt, Hawera, who gave an interesting lecture on “Habits, Grave, Gay, or Otherwise.” A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the lecturer, after which afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames Wright, Burgess, Woods and Miss E. Trimble. A competition for the four best scones was won by Mrs. Burgess. The judge wai Mrs. T. Winter. The members’ stall was in charge of Mrs. Dansie. Many visitors were present at the opening of the golfing season at Inglewood on Thursday. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Alf. Grant and Mrs. Wagstaff, Ohura. The death occurred at Te Aroha on Wednesday of Mr. A. T. Kenrick, who was for a number of years manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Inglewood. Mr. Kenrick retired in 1928 and went to Te Aroha to reside.
