Mrs. Jones, who has been staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. McCracken, Pembroke Road, returned yesterday to Palmerston North.
Miss E. Reynolds returned to New Plymouth last. week after spending a fortnight as the guest of Mrs. J. Hann; Pembroke Road.
A very jolly surprise party visited Mrs. Haseldeu at the Bank of New South Wales on Monday evening, when most of the time was spent in dancing. Among those present were Mrs. Green, Mrs. Hill (Mangatoki), Mrs. Graham (Midhirst), Mrs. K. Neal, Miss M. Porritt, Miss M. Malone, Miss C. Uniacke, Miss 0. Masters, Miss N. Spence, Miss Z. Masters, Mies B. Mann, Miss R. Carter (Eltham), Miss R. Furrie, Miss H. Penn, Miss M. Whittle, Miss D. Meyriek (Hawera), Miss L. Penn and Miss E. Haselden.
The annual meeting of Holy Trinity Ladies’ Guild was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday. Those present were: The Rev. G. T. Beale (in the chair), and Mesdames Beale, Thorpe, G. Hall, Riera, Burke, Erickson, E. Young, Furrie, Haselden, R. Tyrer, Hickson, Callaghan, Middleton, W. Mcßae, Cutfield, R. Curtis, 0. Davies and Miss Finnerty. The vicar congratulated the guild upon the success of the year’s work. Officers appointed for the ensuing year are: President, Mrs. Beale; hon. secretary, Mrs. R. Curtis; hon. treasurer, Mrs. L. Furrie. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring secretary. Mrs. E. H. Young, Mrs. Thorpe and Mrs. Erickson were appointed a buying committee to act in conjunction with the president. A social afternoon committee was appointed to arrange for social afternoons during the winter, the following being elected: Mrs. G.' Hall, Mrs. W. Mcßae, Mrs. A. Davies, Mrs. J. Haselden and Mrs. R. Tyrer. The first meeting of the guild was arranged for the first Wednesday in May. The vicar addressed the ladies upon the subjects of the mission which is to be held in the near future and the communicants’ breakfast, which was inaugurated last year, upon the dedication festival, Trinity Sunday. He asked for the support and co-operation of the ladies’ guild.
