TUMAHU KITCHEN EVENING.
One of the largest gatherings in the Tumahu Hall this year was at the kitchen evening tendered to Miss Ruby Bailey and Mr. Walter Julian on Monday. Friends and well-wishers from Okato, Warea, Pungarehu and surrounding districts were present in large numbers.
Cards were arranged for the nondancers and about 10 tables were occupied, Mr. Roebuck (Okato) and Mrs. Smith (Newall) being declared, the winners at the end of 12 games. Dancing to music played by Miss L. GilhOoly and under the direction of Mr. E. Hoskin as master of ceremonies kept the dancing floor well occupied. A Monte Carlo waltz was wOn by Mr. B. Brophy and Miss O. McGregor, while Mr. V. Bailey and Miss M. Brophy annexed the prizes in the spot waltz. Miss F. Julian played for extra dances. Mr. E. Hoskin ask? ed the guests of the evening to accept the gifts as a remembrance of the happy times spent in the district. Those responsible for the. arrangements were Mrs. R. Tooke and Miss D. Hoskin.
