OEO DISTRICT NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the annual meeting of the Oeo Hall Society there was an attendance of 14 members. Mr. A. Hughes presided. The balance sheet was adopted, there being a. credit balance of £4. A vote of thanks to the retiring committee was passed. The following committee was elected, with power to add: Messrs. L. Lass (chairman), R. Trowmain (secretary), H. Neilson (treasurer), R. Hughes, A. Hughes, W. Ruakare and W. Henry. It was decided to hold a series of euchre parties at an early date. A very 'hearty vote of thanks was accorded ‘those ladies who helped with supper during the year. A meeting of those interested in the formation of a hockey club in the district was held on Wednesday. J here 'was a good attendance. The following officers were elected: Messrs. A. 'Good (patron), R. Hughes (president), 'and a number of vice-presidents, Miss Tremain ('secretary). There is a membership of 23 playing 'members and a number of honorary ■members. The club will be on the ‘western division. Practice commenced on Wednesday last, in Mr. Chas. Jones’ paddock on the main road. Mr. Roy Hughes will act as coach and will represent the club at the association meeting. Mr. Cummins, the Oeo teacher, has tendered his resignation, having been appointed elsewhere. At a special meeting of the tennis club it was agreed to vote £7 to the school committee to finish the work on the tennis courts at the school, the work to be undertaken by local unemployed under the supervision of Mr. G. G. Melchett.
