CHILD’S DEATH AT HUTT
SUSPECTED MAN IN CUSTODY
CHARGE AGAINST LABOURER.
REMAND TILL NEXT FRIDAY.

Wellington, April 16Horace Frank Livermore, alias Johnston, was arrested early this morning and charged in the Police Court to-day with the murder of the child Vera Forster at Upper Hutt yesterday. On the application of Sub-Inspector Ward he was remanded till April 22. Livermore was detained soon after the discovery of the child’s body last evening and was charged with the murder at 2 a.m. He was brought to Wellington by detectives and appeared in the Magistrate’s Court before Mr. T. B. McNeil, S.M. He is a single man and was employed by Forster as a labourer, living with the Forsters since September last. Forster keeps a poultry farm and is employed by J. T. Benge. The murdered child is the youngest of four, there being another daughter and two sons. Vera Forster, aged 44 years, youngest daughter of Mr. arid Mrs. J. Forster, was found about 9 p.m. .in scrub at the end of Cruickshank Road, Maori Bank, beyond Upper Hutt. The child was missing since about 10 o’clock in the morning, and a search party of about 40 set out at a.bout 1 p.m. A piece of iron. piping was found near the body, and a blow or blows had ■been received at the back of the head.
