ELTHAM SWIMMING CLUB
PROFIT IN PAST SEASON.
POLO TEAM TO BE FORMED.
A special meeting of the Eltham Swimming Club committee was held on Friday evening, Mr. E. Urry presiding. The secretary stated that the cups won at the last carnival had been engraved and forwarded to the winners. The Eltham School Committee wrote thanking the club for a further donation towards the baths fund's. The committee was pleased to have the assistance of the club and it was hoped that the same cordial relations would exist in the future. The baths caretaker wrote thanking the club for a donation of one guinea. The secretary reported that the carnival dance oii March 3 showed a loss of £1 14s sd. The carnival itself resulted in a loss of £1 16s 6d, the total loss being £3 10s Ud. It was pointed out that a considerable sum had been spent in obtaining prizes. The season’s operations showed an income of £27 16s sd, and an expenditure of £2l Ils Id, the net profit being £6 5s 4d.
A general- report on the season presented by the secretary, who said that the resuscitation of the club had been successful from all points of view. The gratifying results indicated an even more successful season next year.
It was 'decided to forward a letter of thanks to the Hawera. Swimming Club for assistance and support accorded during the season, also to Mr. A. 'Ryan for acting as handicapper. Thanks were also expressed to Jliss Hilmer, Jliss Harper, Miss Thomas and officials who assisted at the various .functions.
The following recommendatio. were made to the incoming committee:—(l)
Thai entries definitely close on a date and that no late entries be received; (2) that carnivals be held not later than the second week in February; (3) that a handicapper be appointed for club evenings and that this position be held throughout the season;- (4) that a water polo team be formed. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Wilkinson for the use of the room. ELTHAM CROQUET CLUB.
