MOTOR-CYCLE HILL CLIMB
SUCCESS F. L. BUNNING. *
Favoured by ideal weather, the North Taranaki Jlotor-Cycle Club held a. very successful grass hill climb during the week-end, when many competitors from Stratford and other districts were present. Fastest time for the climb was gained by L. Bunhing, Stratford, with seven seconds, though in the run off for club honours K. Gray succeeded in lowering this record by 2-ssec, his time being 6 3-ssec. As the official times were taken from the best of three attempts, this effort was not recognised as the best of the actual competition. Some very spectacular exhibitions of riding were witnessed, as the grade was exceptionally steep and considerable skill was necessary to avoid disaster When the machines leapt into the air on reaching, the summit. There was perhaps a larger attendance, of onlookers than at any of the previous competitions held by the club, and much interest was shown by all present. The results were:—
E. Savage (Norton), handicap 2 1-5 sec, time 7 4-ssec 1 H. Jlackinder (Norton), 2 l-ssec, SSec 2 N. Lightband (8.5. A. 1 4-ssec, 7 4-ssec 3
