CELEBRATION OF ANNIVERSARY.

TWENTY-FIFTH YEAR OF SERVICE.

Mr. R. N. Renaud was the guest of St. Mary’s choir at the Mon Desir on Thursday evening to celebrate the commencement of Mr. Renaud’s 25tfi year of service as organist at the church. There were about. 30 present, including several ~who were members of the choir as it stood when Mr. Renaud arrived.

Speaking of the invaluable services rendered by Mr. Renaud, Archdeacon 'Gavin stressed the high ideals he haxi always held before him, and remarked that it was indeed seldom that such a high standard was so faithfully maintained. Mr. Renaud believed in giving the best, and only the best, at all times. . ■

In reply, Mr. Renaud said that he could not sufficiently thank those present for their good wishes. He wished to express on behalf of Mrs. Renaud and himself the most sincere appreciation of their goodness. Ot the conclusion of his reply he was accorded musical honours. On behalf .of the choii\ Mr. Lysons tendered congratulations on Mr. Ren-, aud’s fine achievement. Referring to his work with the choir, Mr. Lysons said that while Mr. Renaud had. often had occasion to speak severely 7 to them, rancour had been rapidly dispersed 'by “his charming smile,” and the. relations between choir and choirmaster . had always been of the happiest.; Arrangements had been made for-Mr. Renaud to select some piece of music for which they would send, the gift being suitably inscribed as a tribute to his work in St. Mary’s.
