Mrs. J. Wilson was hostess at tea on Friday of last week, amongst those present, being Mrs. McKinney, Mrs Wanklyn, Mrs. Winfield, Mrs. Judd and Miss Brown.
Mrs. H. Winter was hostess at a bridge evening on Tuesday. The guests included Mesdames Gib'bs, Winfield, C. Hamerton, Cameron, McAllister and O’Carroll, and Miss Legg (Christchurch).
Mrs. Cutfield was “at home” on Wednesday afternoon. Amongst those present were Mrs. Fain, Mrs. Winter, Miss Legg, Mrs. Wanklyn, Mrs. S. Grant and Mrs. McKinney.
Mrs. Gibbs was hostess at tea on Monday. Those present were Mesdames Cameron, Sinclair, Winter, O’Carroll, D. Cameron,' Cutfield and Gillivray and Mrs. Marshall (Hawera).
Mrs. Turner, diocesan president of the Mothers’ Union, was the guest of Mrs. A. Leech on Tuesday afternoon, when a number of ladies who are interested in the movement were invited to meet her, and to hear something of the work of that worthy organisation. A dainty, afternoon tea was served by the hostess, and a delightful J afternoon was spent.
The Norfolk district group of the W.E.A. held its weekly meeting at Miss Trimble’s residence on Thursday evening, when the opera “Andrea Chenier” (Giordano) was studied. Amongst those taking part were Mesdames Adnams, Allen, Wood and Egan, Miss Trimble, Miss E. Trimble and Misses G. Simpson and Beddingefleld.
