HOCKEY IN TARANAKI
ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL MEETING. SELECTION SYSTEM CHANGED. The annual mecting B of the Taranaki Hockey Association was held at Eltham last night, Mr. A. R. Gower presiding over an attendance of more than 30 delegates, the Hawera, Eltham, Kaponga, Waitara, Otakeho, Stratford Technical High School, Stratford, Inglewood, Tokaora, Auroa and Mangatoki clubs being represented. ■ The report as published and the balancesheet were adopted. The affiliations of the new clubs of Stratford, Inglewood, Tokaora, Auroa and Mangatoki were approved. The system of selection of representative teams was altered, the meeting approving of boards of three for each division, their chairman and a nominee of the association to make the final choice after trial games.
The officers elected were: President, Mr. C. J. McFadyen (Hawera); four vicepresidents; secretary, Mr. V. Nairn (Eltham) ; management committee, Messrs. V. Betts (Kaponga), R. Irwin (Stratford), K. Pennington (Hawera), C. Davies (Otakeho), Ira J. Bridger (Eltham), A. Byron (Waitara) and W. Bennie (Mangatoki); tournament committee, Messrs. McFadyen, Pennington and Nairn; selectors, Messrs.. H. C. Johnson (association), Byron, Priest, Bennie (Thursday division), McFadyen, Winter and Pennington (Wednesday division). It was decided to challenge again for the Nordon Cup.
