MARTIAL LAW DEMANDED
HAWAIIAN ISLANDS DISORDERS. SEQUEL TO LYNCHING CASE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 8 p.m. Washington, Jan. 12. Following upon report® from Hawaiian citizens demanding martial law to restore order following the lynching of a Japanese, President Hoover, the Cabinet, the Department of Justice and the House Committee on Naval Affairs have opened individual inquiries into the Hawaiian situation, which is causing an exceptional amount of excitement in Washington. Mr. Houston, Hawaiian delegate to Congress, has despatched to Honolulu newspapers a message stating: “I hope for the sake of Hawaii the guilty will surrender, and in paying the supreme sacrifice help to clear the name of our land and rehabilitate our reputation.”
