CHRIST’S COLLEGE
CENTENARY ENDOWMENT. ASSURANCE SCHEME PLANNED. A scheme for raising an endowment fund of £30,000, to be presented t« Christ’s College on its centenary in 16*50, was outlined in a pamphlet at the college in Christchurch last week. *The proposal is to give all old boys and others so inclined an opportunity to take part in the presentation to th* school of a liberal endowment fund, the capital to be handed to the Warden and Fellows in 1950 for investment, and-the income to be used thereafter for auch general or special purposes as the governors may direct. The sum of £30,000 was aimed at, and considering the large number of boys who had passed through ths school, it was not considered too high. The proposal was that a selected life assurance office should be asked to write sufficient endowment policies among old. boys and friends of the school to asslire the sum aimed at. The “assured” would, of course, choose his own sum —the minimum being £2s—according to what ha felt he could do for the scheme, and all policies would be issued in ths name of the Christ’s College Old Boys’ Association. Bonuses accruing should add at least a third to the total sum written.
