CALMETTE SERUM TRAGEDY
DEATH OF SEVENTY-FIVE BABIES DEYCKE INOCULATES HIMSEL'f. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright, i , London, Dec. 20. Professor Deycke, charged at Lubeck connection with the death of 76 babies, caused a sensation in court when he announced that he had inoculated himself with the Calmette serum in order to prove that the children’s deaths were due to a mistake. His family are watching Deycke, who declares: “I am perfectly certain of survival, but that will not restore the lives of those poor babies. Should I die I shall at least be spared the unspeakable horrors of this case.” The children died after being inoculated with the Calmette anti-tubercu-losis serum.
