RESCUE IN MID-ATLANTIC
DIFFICULTY IN HEAVY SEAS. (LOSS OF SCHOONER RIA. (British Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 pun. Rugby, Dec. 18. Elder and Fyffe’s steamer Aztec reached Southampton -to-day, having rescued in mid-Aitlantic the paptain crew of five of the three-masted schooner Ria with great difficulty in heavy seas, and at night. The Aztec launched a boat manned byvolunteers and took off the Ria’s crew. Afterwards the captain was taken back to set fire to the abandoned schooner.-
