AUSTRALIAN STOCKS RISE
PRIME MINISTER GRATIFIED. CONFIDENCE IN THE FUTURE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10.30 p.m. Canberra, Oct. 16. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Soullin, to-day expressed gratification at the improvement in Australian securities on the lyondon market. He said 5 per cent. Commonwealth stocks had improved by £lB in a little more than a fortnight. He was confident a further improvement would soon be recorded. He was particularly pleased at the all-round buoyancy of the Stock Exchangefl at Sydney and Melbourne and the marked recovery of wool prices.
