PALMER AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION. TITLE REGAINED FROM THORNTON. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Ree. 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 20. At the Sydney stadium in the middleweight championship of Australia the Victorian Ambrose Palmer, list 5.b, regained the title from Bob Thornton, list 21b in a 15-round contest. Thera were 4000 spectators. The fight was exciting and occasionally thrilling but the issue was never in doubt. Thornton held his own in the first four rounds but until the tenth Palmer had his opponent on the defensive, administering much punishment. The tenth saw a great rally by Thornton, who forced Palmer to the ropes repeatedly and rather surprised hiin. Palmer returned the punishment with interest in the next round and with youthful vigour maintained his advantage to the end.
