MALAHAT AND BIDDY’S BOY WIN.

A surprise by the Gisborne horse Malahat, who won the Jellicoe Handicap and paid a double figure dividend', formed a feature of the Pakuranga Hunt Club’s annual race meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday. Mr. R. Hannon’s Nukutere won the Hunt Cup, defeating Billy Boy, who was a hot favourite. Perfect weather prevailed and the track was in very good order. _ The attendance was estimated at 8500. The Swell (R. Eagar) and Spanish Prince (Mr. K. Bedford) were companions over a round of the schooling huidlcs.

•Spanish Prince ran off at the thiid obstacle, but the display given by the nair was very satisfactory. 1 # * - * ■»

Garrick (March) went really well over four hurdles and is undoubtedly improving. f *

Moerangi (Eagar) gave hrs usual fast, clean display over a circuit of schooling obstacles. He is in the pink of condition.

On Saturday morning Gueress, Winnagan and Evening Hero all schooled, well at Awapuni, .and they will come to New Plymouth early this week.
