MERE MERE NOTES. EUCHRE and dance. i The winners of the prizes for th« euchre tourney held on Friday evening were Miss G. Murray and Mr. G. W. Williams, Miss Judd and Mr. M. Kitney obtaining the consolation awards. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mr. W. Murray. It was decided to hold the final dance in three weeks’ time, • so as to give the teachers time to get back from their holiday. On Friday a special meeting of the ladies’ guild was called to settle a dispute which had arisen. In the end it was ■ decided to buy material for such sewing as was necessary to meet the general expenses of the' Sunday school hall. OTAKEHO GENERAL NEWS. A euchre party in the Otakeho Hal, last Tuesday was an outstanding success, about 18 tables being occupied. The ladies’ prizes were won by Miso N. Julian (first) and Mrs. W. H. Julian (second), and the men’s 'by Mr. Radford (first) and Mr. Green (second). Mrs. Prouse and Miss Mavis Prouse are the guests of Mrs. W. 11. Julian. Miss B. Pollock is staying with Mrs. Campbell. Mr. J. A. Pettigrew has returned from a trip to the South Island. Mr. D. Mitchell has taken up duties in the local factory. Miss H. Willis is staving with Mrs. Bell. " "" OTAKEHO SCHOOL CONCERT. Pupils of the Otakeho school entertained their parents and friends on Friday night with a concert in the hall. The items by the children were much appreciated by the large audience which showed no lack oi enthusiasm. ’

The, programme opened with a-recita-tion by Phyllis Burns, who was followed by. a chorus of tiny tots singing "You Are. Welcome.” Then came a song, ‘‘Our Farm,” by senior girls; who also gave a dance, “Cochin China,” which was encored. A humorous item was “Teacher and Boys,” by the junior boys. Then there was a pianoforte trio by Lois Davies, Mavis Parker and Joyce Walker. “Dream Man,” by the infant girls was loudly applauded. Other items were - a ■ “Ribbon Dance” (senior girls), recitation. “A Letter to •Santa Claus,” by Phyllis Burns, song, “Hoea Ra” (senior pupils), "'Pop Goes the Weasel” (infants), and a song, “Little Eskimo” (junior girls). After the interval was a dialogue, “Mot-her-in-Law,” recitation (Lois Davies), "The Toy Drum’Major,” with sing- ' ing and dancing by the intermediate I pupils, recitation, "I Want to Buy a , Radio” (Cecil Shirtcliffe), folk dance I (senior girls), song, “Won’t You Buy My Pretty Flowers?” (Eileen Walker), recitation (Joyce Walker), song, “Toy«< •maker’s Dream,” pianoforte duet : ( An* nie Putt and Nancy Pettigrew), song, ‘‘The Tui Bird” (senior pupils), humorous recitation (C. . Shirtcliffe), “Merry Dance” (junior girls), "Goodnight Song” (intermediate girls), and “Pack Up Your Troubles,” by all the performers. Mr. S. Le Fleming thanked all who had helped With the concert, which re-. fleeted credit on teachers and pupils. While the performers were enjoying their supper the hall was cleared and Alt*.
