SCHNEIDER TROPHY FEARS
ITALY AND FRANCE DOUBTFUL. BRITAIN MAY HAVE A WALK-OVER British Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Aug. 21. It is understood that in the event of the Italian and the French teams not after all competing for the Schneider trophy in the race on September 12 the British team will fly round the course at the highest speed attainable by the new machines, which are expected considerably to exceed last year’s figures. However, although the intentions of the Italian and French teams are still unknown, strong hopes are held at Calehot that both countries will be represented.' It is anticipated that the final decision cannot be delayed much longer, and probably it will be reached during the week-end. The funeral of Lieutenant Brinton, who crashed while training as a member of the British team, took place today. The inquest yesterday was adjourned after formal evidence had been given, pending the report of a special inquiry into the cau§e of the accident.
