CANADIAN HOUSE RISES
AGREEMENT WITH AUSTRALIA. HOPE FOR EMPIRE-WIDE ACTION. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, Aug.. 3. The Canadian Parliament was prorogued on Monday. The fepeech from the Throne said the commercial agreement negotiated with Australia “Will, I confidently believe, be of advantage to both our countries. This agreement manifests the desire of my Government to enter into similar trade agreements with other parts of the Empire.” The Imperial economic conference, adjourned last November to reassemble at Ottawa, in the latter part of the current year, had been postponed, the speech continued, because the circumstances prevented representation at the conference of all the Dominions of the Empire. It was confidently believed that when this conference reassembled an Empire trade agreement of advantage to all parts would be consummated.
