POLICE „ RESERVES CALLED
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Chicago, Aug. 3.
In a clash between police and a mob of 5000 led by Communists three Negroes were fatally shot and several others were seriously injured. The trouble was precipitated when the Communists objecting to the eviction of a woman started moving the furniture back into the house. Detectives arrested the Communists, thus setting off the spirit of anarchy. The masses swept forward against the detectives, who summoned police reserves. Some in the crowd were reported to have used revolvers, knives and razors. Eventually the police, using clubs and pistols, forced 1 the mob to retreat, leaving behind the three dead.
