RUN DOWN BY LAUNDRY VAN.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. 4. Sir Kenneth Douglas, Bt., Wellington, is claiming in the Supreme Court to-day £347 15b Hd special and £2500 general damages from the Victoria Laundry Company, alleging negligent and unskilful driving on the part of William Albert Weldon, an employee of the company, whose motor-van ran down plaintiff, causing severe injuries and shock. Plaintiff was for a period an inmate of both the public and the Bowen Street hospitals, and the claim sets out that he is still receiving medical, attention and was advised that he would be permanently partially incapacitated. He has been unable to attend, to his practice as a barrister and solicitor, and had suffered and would continue to suffer a substantial loss. The defence is a denial of negligence on the part of Weldon in any. way and an assertion that the plaintiff by the exercise of ordinary and reasonable care could have avoided the accident.
