CONCERT AT KAIMIRO

FUNDS FOR HALL SUPPER-ROOM. In spite of unpleasant weather conditions on Tuesday a house greeted the presentation at Kaimiro of a vocal, instrumental and dramatic entertainment of more than usual merit. Promoted by the hall committee in aid of the new supper room fund, the entertainment had a most gratifying result financially and approximately £7 should be available towards the fund. Assistance to the first half of the programme was rendered by a 'band of artists from Inglewood, including Mi's. Jemison (pianoforte, who was also accompaniste), and Mr. W. J. Smith (vocal solos), Mr. D. McAllister (violin solos), and Mr. Fred Partridge (elocutionary items). Miss Jean Morton and Mr. Jack Jones, 'both of Egmont Village, assisted with vocal and elocutionary items respectively. The second half of the programme consisted of a clever presentation by the Egmont Village Players of Gertrude Jennings’ one-act comedy, “The New Poor.” “Mrs. Buckle,” one of the new rich, most cleverly and amusingly played by Mr." Gordon Marsh, who held the attention of the house by his clever impersonation. . The hall having been cleared for dancing, the remainder of the evening- was spent in this manner, with a break for supper served by the ladies’ committee. Mrs. J. Paterson, at the piano, supplied the whole of the dance music programme.
